RAWALPINDI: Two young boys were shot and injured allegedly by the son of an employee of Counterterrorism Department (CTD). SI Ch Mohammad Tanveer lodged an FIR with the Civil Lines police saying that he along with ASIShahid Mehmood were on duty at the Police Lines Headquarters on Saturday, when some boys were playing football in the ground when all of a sudden, they heard some people were quarrelling followed by sound of gunshots. On hearing the sound of gunshots, they rushed to the football ground and found two young boys lying injured. Later, the injured boys were identified as Mudassar Ali, son of a retired police inspector and Ahmar Nawaz, residents of Gulshan Abad. He said that the injured informed them that they were shot and injured by the son of a staff member of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD). The injured were shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) where they were stated to be in stable condition. The motive was stated to be an old enmity. Meanwhile, a robbery suspect was injured while his accomplices managed to escape during an encounter with police in the limit of R.A. Bazar police. Police spokesman said that the incident happened when the accomplices of a suspected robber attempted to release him from the police custody as the police were taking him to recover the stolen goods. During the exchange of gunfire, the suspected robber identified as Ahsan Abbas was injured while his accomplices managed to escape. The injured suspect was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital. The accused Ahsan Abbas was wanted by police in several cases of robbery in different districts of Punjab, he said.
